The exercise works the pectoralis major as well as the supporting chest, arm, and shoulder muscles. The anterior deltoids, serratus anterior, coracobrachialis, scapulae fixers, trapezii, and the triceps. A barbell, generally used to hold the weight, but a pair of dumbbells also used.
